Equality and Diversity objectives 2025 -2029

BEYA is committed to meeting its public sector duties and acknowledges that we have a statutory duty to:

  • Eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
  • Promote equality of access and opportunity within our school and within our wider community.
  • Promote positive attitudes to difference and good relationships between people with different backgrounds, genders, cultures, faiths, abilities and ethnic origins.

Eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation

Objective
Ensure all children, regardless of background or ability, have a voice in shaping their learning experiences and feel safe from discrimination.

Success Criteria

  • Each child’s individual learning journey (via OP&L) reflects their interests and needs.
  • Staff receive annual training on listening to and representing children’s voices fairly.
  • Feedback from child questionnaires and parent/carer surveys are used to make curriculum or environment adjustments.

Advance Equality of Opportunity Between People

Objective
Identify and reduce barriers to learning so that all children, including those from vulnerable groups, achieve their potential.

Success Criteria

  • OP&L data reviewed monthly to track progress by key groups (e.g., SEN, vulnerable, EAL).
  • Support in place within four weeks of identifying underachievement.
  • At least two family support workshops/events offered each year to strengthen home–school links.

Foster Good Relations Between People

Objective
Promote respect, kindness and understanding of diversity within the nursery and wider community.

Success Criteria

  • The curriculum includes planned activities that celebrate a range of cultures, faiths and family structures.
  • Children demonstrate inclusive behaviours, are kind and considerate, displaying an understanding and respect for themselves and others.
  • Parents/carers are invited to share their culture, language or traditions.

Ofsted Outstanding
  • Staff bring out the best in each and every child, using what they know about children’s interests to engage them.

    Ofsted

  • The school is a haven where children are safe. They play and learn so well together. Their behaviour is exemplary.

    Ofsted

  • It is no surprise to see how much children love learning here. This is a place where children’s imaginations flourish.
